Antonio Berni
Antonio Berni was born in Rosary in 1905 and died in Buenos Aires in 1981. For sixty years he was dedicated to painting becoming one of the most important artists of Argentina and Latin America. He was a painter, an engraver, a sketcher, a muralista, an illustrator of objects and installations. Berni was a young prodigy who at the age of fourteen years presented and displayed his first exhibition. Dedicated to painting landscapes and pictures, he realized three consecutive exhibitions and critics wrote with enthusiasm on his works. In 1923 he exposed for the first time in Buenos Aires and in 1924 it begins his shipments from works to the Salón Nacional de Bellas Artes that was then the most important public exibition in the country for painters and sculptors. For the Argentine artists, from the end of the century XIX, it was fundamental, after studying in Argentina, honing his skills while spending some time in Paris and Rome. He tried to complete his studies in Argentina and establish contact in other parts of the world. With his group, Juanito Lagoon and Ramona Montiel, Antonio Berni developed one of the most original chapters of the history of the Argentine art and concluded his life being one of the keys artists within Argentine culture.
