My work is not based on preconceptions or significations, neither is it representational. Its construction is clear and simple, and has formal and chromatic freedom, resulting in a sensual geometry of a marked female sensibility. What I care about the most is plastic expression, mainly based on color. I employ simple geometric elements(circles, squares, rectangles and triangles) to then create personal images. The final goal is the supremacy of pure plastic sensibility over any descriptive, social, practical, material or illusionist ends. I employ flat, contrasting colors –the primaries in general– and also intermediate ranges. They dominate the neutral bases creating chromatic effects of space and plastic vibration. In summary, my art is based on the absolute supremacy of a plastic sensibility over naturalistic description and is free of all social or material ends. Maria Paula Caradonti's Website
